If someone has passed away and your family needs a Chinese funeral in Melbourne, you do not need to know exactly what to do before calling a funeral director.
AnLe Funerals can help with the first steps, transfer and care of your loved one, funeral costs, Chinese traditions, viewings, funeral services, cremation or burial, paperwork and the arrangements that follow.
One phone call is enough to get started. Tell us what has happened and we’ll explain what needs to happen now, what can be decided later and what your family needs to consider.
Support is available 24 hours a day in Mandarin, Cantonese and English.

One Call Can Get Everything Started
When someone passes away, one of the first questions is often simply: What do we need to do now?
Start by calling us.
Tell us where your loved one is — at a hospital, aged care home, private home or with the Coroner — and we’ll explain the next steps.
We can arrange the transfer and care of your loved one and start organising the viewing, funeral service, cremation or burial, coffin or casket, flowers, paperwork, and any cultural or religious arrangements your family wants.
You don’t need to decide everything during the first call.
We’ll help you understand what needs to happen now, what can be decided later, and what happens after the funeral.
For more guidance about what happens immediately after a death, read our First Few Hours After Someone Passes Away guide.
Want to Know What a Funeral May Cost?
We believe families should be able to get a clear idea of funeral costs without having to call a funeral director just to ask what their prices are.
That’s why AnLe Funerals publishes our funeral prices online.
You can see our professional service fees, transfer and mortuary costs, viewing and funeral service charges, hearse costs, coffin and casket prices, and complete funeral packages.
So if you want to check the costs before calling, you can.
But if you need help now, call us first. You don’t need to research every option or work out exactly what you want before speaking with us.
Here are three of our funeral packages to give you an idea of costs:
Least Cost Cremation Package — $3,200
No ceremony, no viewing and no attendance. A simple cremation package including metropolitan transfer, mortuary holding, a basic coffin, cremation and required documentation.
Standard Cremation Package — $5,990
Our most chosen package. Includes a funeral service and/or private viewing at one of our suitable facilities, together with transfer, mortuary care, a standard coffin, hearse transport, cremation and required documentation.
Standard Burial Package — $7,990 + Cemetery Costs
Includes a funeral service and/or private viewing at one of our suitable facilities, together with transfer, mortuary care, a standard coffin, hearse transport, burial coordination and required documentation. Cemetery costs are additional.

Every funeral is different. Once we understand what your family needs, we’ll go through the arrangements with you and provide a Service Agreement that clearly lists the services and prices for your funeral.
But you shouldn’t have to call us just to find out what our prices are.
If you need help now, call us. We’ll explain what needs to happen next and talk you through the costs as we go.
You can also read our guide to Chinese and Asian funeral costs in Melbourne for more information about funeral costs and the choices that can affect the final price.
Not Sure About All the Chinese Funeral Traditions?
That’s okay.
Your loved one may have wanted a traditional Buddhist or Taoist funeral, but you may not be completely sure what’s involved.
Perhaps older relatives have particular customs they want followed, while younger members of the family have different ideas. Or your family may want something simpler — keeping the Chinese traditions that are important to you while arranging a more contemporary funeral.
Every family is different.
Our Principal Funeral Director, Leyi, grew up in China and speaks Mandarin, Cantonese and English. For many years, she has worked closely with Chinese families during times of loss, giving her extensive first-hand experience of Chinese funerals, traditions and the needs of families saying goodbye to someone they love.
Known for her warm, calm and caring approach, Leyi takes the time to listen and understand what’s important to your family before guiding you through the choices and arrangements. She wants every family to feel heard, respected and supported.
If different generations in your family have different expectations, she can help explain the options and bring those wishes together.
AnLe Funerals can assist with traditional Chinese, Buddhist, Taoist, Christian, Catholic and non-religious funerals, including arrangements for monks, priests and celebrants where required.
From the first arrangements through to the funeral, you’ll have a dedicated Funeral Director who knows your family’s wishes and what’s important to you.
Tell us what matters to your family. We’ll help with the rest.

What Happens After You Call a Chinese Funeral Director?
The first phone call gets things started. We can deal with the immediate priorities and begin planning the funeral with you.
In the days that follow, we’ll arrange a time to meet with your family and go through the details together.
You can meet us at our AnLe Funerals Care Centre at 154 Springvale Road, Nunawading, at one of our other locations across Melbourne, at your family’s home or at another suitable place.

At this meeting, we’ll confirm the funeral arrangements, go through the services and prices in the Service Agreement, and complete the information and paperwork we need.
You can also provide the clothing you would like your loved one to wear and photographs for the funeral slideshow and other funeral media. We’ll talk through music, tributes, cultural or religious requirements and the other details that will make the funeral personal to your family.
You don’t need to have any of this ready before making the first call.
Call us first. We’ll guide you through what we need and when we need it.
More Choice for Viewings and Funeral Services
You may want a small private viewing with close family, a chapel for a larger funeral service, or a service at a church, temple, cemetery or crematorium.
AnLe Funerals provides access to viewing rooms, chapels and mortuary facilities across Melbourne.
Our locations include Keysborough, Fairfield, Clifton Hill and Williamstown, together with our Care Centre in Nunawading.
We can also arrange funeral services at major Melbourne cemeteries and crematoriums, churches, temples and other suitable venues.
This gives your family more choice over where and how you say goodbye.

Where Will Your Loved One Be Cared For?
It’s a reasonable question — and you should be able to get a clear answer.
AnLe Funerals uses mortuary facilities in Keysborough and Fairfield, and we publish our mortuary care and transportation charges.
When we arrange the transfer, we’ll explain where your loved one will be cared for and what happens next.
We can also arrange dressing and preparation, viewing and other care required before the funeral.
Chinese Funeral Cremation or Burial — What Are the Options?
Some families already know whether their loved one wanted cremation or burial. Others need time to consider the options or speak with relatives.
You don’t have to decide before making the first call.
We can explain the options and arrange either cremation or burial in Melbourne, including cemetery or crematorium arrangements.
Our support also continues beyond the funeral.
If your family chooses cremation, we can help with ashes collection, urns and memorial options, as well as explain what needs to be organised if ashes are to be taken overseas.
We can also assist families with memorial and remembrance arrangements, including traditional occasions such as Qingming, where required.
If there is something you’re unsure about after the funeral, you can continue to contact us for guidance.
A Chinese Funeral That Reflects Your Family
There is no single way to arrange a Chinese funeral.
For one family, a meaningful farewell might include Buddhist chanting, incense and traditional Chinese customs.
For another, it could be a Christian or Catholic service conducted partly in Chinese and partly in English.
Another family may choose photographs, favourite music, flowers and a simple celebration of their loved one’s life.
Sometimes older and younger generations want a combination of these things.
What matters is understanding what was important to your loved one and what feels right for your family.
We’ll listen, explain the choices and help you bring everything together.
